Feminist Literature/Film- Cathleen Morales

A work of feminist literature or film is something that focuses on the role of women in various aspects, from society to education and politics. It follows the history and accomplishments associated with their gender, along with acknowledging the struggles encompassed along the way. While every piece has its individual approach, I feel the female experience is central to the general idea. A writer or filmmaker can take many approaches to represent this, though, I don’t feel that a piece is obligated to include every one of these components in order to be complete. Women’s roles and positions in association with men are also included because of the inconsistencies and prejudices that existed against women and continue to be relevant today. It is non traditional because it breaks the barriers of confinement forced upon women and allows for their input and fair treatment.

  1. Yes, "female experience" is central and perhaps foundational to the feminist text experience.
