"Feminist literature is..." according to Marcelle Auzon
Feminist literature pushes the stereotypical idea of what womanhood is. A great example of this is, Kate Chopin's novel "The Awakening". The protagonist in the novel, Edna Pontellier, is not the archetypical figure of a "mother/woman". Edna dared to explore her sexuality, her desires and put herself first. Feminist literature examines different types of women and what womanhood is. It explores equality in both men and women and not only does it explore equality but it gives women justice. This type of literature also helps redeem and honor women of hardships endured in the past. Feminism honors what it means to be a woman and how they (woman) are just as important and worthy as men are.

I like the idea of a feminist text "honoring" women -- and that can operate in so many different ways.
